I started tearing down the engine compartment of my truck so I can swap my cam today. I had just removed the crank pulley and timing chain cover, I went to grab the chain and it was loose on one side. Now I have to change the timing chain. Do I have to drop the oil pan to change it? If I have to drop the pan do I have to change the oil pan gasket? I have 50,000 on it should I change the oil pump too? Where should I buy it?
Sorry for such a long post, thanks.

Is your cam sprocket solid with a goofy bar around half of it or does it have holes in it? My '05 LQ4 had a LS2 timing chain set in it already
I don't think it's worth the hassle of dropping the pan and removing the oil pump to change out your timing chain. Leave well enough alone, change the cam and move on
