Default Cam Swap.

I trying to get a cam swap done. Just need a few suggestions. I was wondering if 918's would be ok for a 210/218 551/551 112LSA cam or would you do dual spring. Also what retainers would you guys recommend for the springs. Steel or Titanium. What are the pros and cons of each style. I need the set up to be reliable and last a while, at least until I step up the mods on my truck which won't be for a while. Nelson is going to do the work for sure and a tune at the same time since I'm going to need it anyway. The truck is a daily driver, doesn't go to the track very often. Mainly for desert running. Thanks.

the 918's are good up to .600 lift so the 918's are good, I dont think you need retainers for the cam swap...

Default been hearing crane duals

Ive been hearing things about crane dual springs instead of comp 918. They say the918 need to be changed once a yr!? And like i think silver60 said, if you get on it when its cold, and the spring breaks, youll drop the valve. With the cranes, the 2nd spring will catch.

The 918's are rumored to do what Virgil mentioned using high lift and agressive duration ( fast lift/ramp ). My personal opinion is that the higher revving LS1 car motors are doing most of the damage. The duals are nice for the added safety factor tho, rare to break both springs.
Ti retainers are the best way to lighten the valvetrain and gain faster/higher revs. They are not cheap, $210 plus, and might not work with future springs swaps if you go to a larger lift cam. The stock GenIII pushrods are pretty flexible, change them out for sure.
If your future plans include a different cam, make the appropriate spring change now. Remember that you do not need to pull the heads to swap cams in the GenIII motors, no reason to pay twice for the same work.
