Default Cam Suggestions, getting mixed answers.

Well I have sort of a special situation. I'm looking for a cam for my 6.0 LQ9. Currently only things that have been done to it is.

Long Tubes
BB Tune
Slightly Ported 317 heads
Built 4L80E (No Stall)

This truck is my daily driver and is meant for the offroad (sand & dirt) So a stall is virtually out of the question.

Now I was thinking about running either the TSP 220/220 with a 111LSA but i heard that would be terrible without a stall. Then I was thinking of a 216/220, again heard it would be bad. Does anyone have a starting point or suggestions?

Thanks in advanced!

Your truck looks like its set up kinda like a prerunner, why are you so against a stall? If you run in the sand you want to get into power as soon as possible? A small stall would make a huge difference. even a 22-2500 is extremely drivable and would get you up closer to the powerband a lot faster.

Agreed a 2600 and a low 220s cam will be a nice set up.

I think with a 216/220 you wouldnt need a stall. I didnt have one with my 222/226 for a long time... and it was fine!

DD is honestly better with the small stall though. It really smoothes out some of the raunchyness that is unavoidable with a larger cam.

Yes the truck is a prerunner. The truck did have a GT2-3 which has been sold.

Justin (BB) told me basically to stay away, I've been through 6 4l80's with this last one lasting 40k so far. Secondly 4l80 stalls are EXPENSIVE. The truck is finally getting geared tomorrow (from 3.73's to 4.56's) which was another issue.

If i can run a 216/220 with no stall that would be ideal. Now if I wanted a choppy idle would a shorter duration achieve that ?

i would stick with a 112 LSA that will give you a choppy idle without losing engine vacuum for your breaks.

I'm thinking I have a thumper 220/236, Iirc and it's real choppy. It's a DD but it's also a big hunk of weight!
I'm happy w/everything except the rear end sounds I'm trying to diagnose!
