Default cam suggestions for a 350

so my dads birthday is in a few months and he has been dropping the "oh i wouldnt mind a cam for my camaro" line a bit since he wants to pull the engine for a rebuild and paint the engine bay.

he has a stock original 1977 camaro z28 that he has owned since new. it has a 350 on it and the only motor things he has done to it is an edelbrock performer intake manifold and some black jack alumicoat headers with true dual exhaust and some small dynamax mufflers.

i have really no idea where to start looking. he said he wouldnt mind putting the 327 corvette cam in there, but i figure i would rather find a better cam than that, one made to bump power, full of lope, and keep the powerband no more than 6000 rpms. of course we would get new rods, springs, and rockers, but any info is helpful here on the cam/rods/springs/rockers, i have plenty of time to look for one.

i dont see that one on the site, i see the XR264HR and XR270HR. the 270 has the RPM range that is the best in my opinion, 1600-5400 rpms. maybe as much as the XR276HR at 1900 to 5600, since we both shift at about 5500-6000. so a 224/230 110LSA sounds like a beefy cam. ill keep looking around and im up for any suggestions!

link to the cams for my reference:

now are you redoing the block and setting up for a hydraulic roller, or keeping it a hydraulic cam?

This is the XE268 I was thinking if you stay hydraulic.

pretty resonably priced, just have to get together the lifters, springs, rods for the swap, maybe just kit the comp cams kit. gona be a nice hp increase over what it is now!
