Default To cam or not to cam

I know, dumb question.
Truck is at the motor builder currently. Only difference in price will be the additional dyno. Propose cam is 230/232 iirc.

Thoughts or experiences.

I would put a cam in it. What all is done to the engine and is it the 6.0 for your 2500hd truck in your sig? Are you still running the stock torque converter? My point, if it is going to be a stockish engine without all of the supporting mods I would look at a smaller cam more like a torque cam.

It is the truck in my signature and I checked and the recommended cam is 230/232.

The improved tc would cost about 2200. Cam and heads about 3k. Cam alone 1500+.

No problem staying in control until this project is complete. Leakdown test passed.

$1500 for a cam? $2200 for a tc?

Why don't you get a custom cam spec'ed out to match your setup. If you are going to get a higher stalling torque converter, and better heads to up the compression, I would still get a smaller cam than the one mentioned imo. Get a torque cam for that heavy *** truck. Id go for low 220's cam duration at max for the 2500HD. Most people will probably tell you to get a 212/218 or close to it because they make more torque down low where you need it.

$1500 cam installed; $2200 rebuild 80E and stronger tc. I don't have skills, time, tools to do this myself.

Builder said smaller cam. I will pass on your advice.

I will report back on my conference w/my builder. I asked a local(to me)member his thoughts of my builder, if he has any.

I really appreciate your knowledge and ideas.
