I will report back on my conference w/my builder. I asked a local(to me)member his thoughts of my builder, if he has any.

I really appreciate your knowledge and ideas.
Whoever your builder is, has ridiculous prices, $1500 just for a Cam install? I got custom cam, rods, and springs for $1100. bigger fuel pump and total was $1475. Tranny sounds about right though, but again I got a stage 3 Tranny rebuild 4l65E and a TC installed for like $2200

So the builder did say to go to a smaller cam? That cam that you listed above is too big for your setup unless you want to build a drag 2500hd and shift it at 7000Rpm. What is being done to the motor that it is at the builder? More information would help us give you better suggestions.

219/233; .050 lift. $1300 cam installed.

Andysc3 asked if I was getting a procharger; is that like a supercharger? That question was about the cam duration, iirc.

Builder is Houston hot rods. Good or bad pricing, I pm'd some of the cypress/Houston guys but never got a response.
My neighbor used to do this stuff til he got a real job has beenwatching over this somewhat.

Thanks everyone.

You bought all that and had it installed for $1100? wow thats cheap.

I paid that for parts alone just for my cam swap. Not to mention all the cases of beer I had to buy to get my buddies to help me!

You can do the cam install yourself in a day, with the motor installed in the truck, and all accessories on it. It's not near as hard as you probably think it is.

True statement! We did my complete swap in about a day and a half. Thats stripping it down to start the heads, going to bed, eating breakfast and starting the heads at 10am and we turned the last bolt at 9pm that night with lunch breaks and beer runs...

Actually, I did. It all went to he'll when I gave him a .45 for Christmas after he did some major Bimmer wrenching for me. He wouldn't go to my gun club or anything.

So, I'm on my own, but pretty much have always been. I've always had nice cars, bikes and girls. Now I'm married and very quickly will "used to have nice guns" will be part of my story!

I will post a cost sheet at the end but it started at: $1550 for lts, before and after dynos, tune. Tranny losing planetary(not yet but going), beef up and 22 or 2500 stall TC: $2200. Cam as described above: $1300. Doing cam since it saves returning and I'm w/o my truck anyway!

I need to learn to post pics so I can sell my crap and do more for my ride!

Get a photobucket account. And post the IMG link in the thread.
Read up on some of the how to threads here. A lot of this stuff you could possible do yourself. Ive done about 90% of my build in my driveway. Ive had some help here and there. But its not that bad. GM did a great thing when they designed these engines.
