Default Cam Install. Valve Lash

All right bare with me.. I'm a little confused with this when tightening the rocker arms down. This is straight from ALLDATA turn the #1 piston to TDC the crankshaft sprocket key will be at 1:30, Tighten 1,2,7,8 exhaust valve rocker arm bolts (22ft.lbs) Tighten 1,3,4,5 intake valve rocker arm bolts.. rotate crank 360degrees tighten 3,4,5,6 exhaust valve rocker arms..Tighten 2,6,7,8 intake rocker arms...

I have also read where it is an Net Lash set up where all u do is tighten everything down to 22ft.lbs all at once

The best way to do it is when the valves are closed (the lifter will be on the "flat" side of the cam lobe). This way there is no excess pressure on the rocker to give you an incorrect reading. Doing it the AllData way will allow for this, which is how I would do it

There is no lash to be set on self adjusting rockers/lifters.. Set them up at about 10ft lbs, rotate the engine over a few times, then set them to the 22 as called for ..

so tighten to 10 then rotate a few, then tighten to 22. without putting the lifter on the heel of the lobe?

Thats the way I have done all mine, not sure if it is spec or what but I have never had any issues this way.... If the book calls for what them guys said then you can do it that way, but I have never done it that way.. Naturally it will not be as on 22 ft lbs if the lobe is up or down, but like I said 22ft lb after you rotate it over a time or 2, good imo.. This isn't old flat tappet cams/lifters

You don't want to torque it down if the cam lobe is lifting the pushrod, because you could possibly rip the threads out. I have done it before though back before I knew better and nothing bad happened.
