I'm at work right now when I get home I will do that. The set screw bearly makes it to the tip of the crank snout before it hits oil gear. But yes I backed it completely out and set it aside. It physical stops at the oil drive gear. I played with my old one trying to seat it in the socket and it just didn't seem to fit no matter how hard I tried.

I wI'll post some pics later though

Basically install the stop, start rotating the engine until the piston hits it, record degree measurement. Rotate crank the other way and record degree when it hits. Average the two degrees and that's TDC.
Ahh... didnt know that they made some that screw into the spark plug hole. Duh.

Might be dump question, but is it supposed to fit on the woodruff key under the oil pump drive?

From what I read online and on forums and by seeing pictures, it snugly fits over oil gear and set screw sets down on the snout. I'm a little bummed I couldn't use my tool

Default Just an update

Well cam Is all degreed and went smoothly. Installed on intake centerline. Never got the comp cams crank socket to work for me. I made my own with my harmonic installer, sum washers and a nut. I'm a little dissapointed!

So how close was it from where you ended up to just throwing it in dot to dot?

Installed dot to dot no timing advance or retard in it was right on point. Maybe at most a quater of a degree of but it was dead on. Well worth the learning experience and knowing with confidence it is installed correctly
