Default cam change

i have to do the head gaskets on my 2001 5.3 in my tahoe. so my question is could i "upgrade" to a ls1 cam like that cam out of a trans am?
would it offer a little more performance over a stock 5.3 cam?
my truck is a day to day driver and i dont want to make it a monster just a little more peppier.....if thats a word??

I'm sure ther is a diffrence in the specs but I don't think it will be worth the swap ....I mean you probably would not notice any diffrence in power.
