Default cam advancing question

i have a 2000 vette cam in my 5.3L with no tq verter or headers. verter is coming soon. if i advance it 4 degrees it's supposed to help with the bottom end right? so where should the dots on the timing chain set be?

i am not a cam guru so all help is invited.

Hiya goshhawk. Advancing a cam will move its powerband lower in the RPM range as you mention. You won't line up dot to dot. Done with offset cam pulley bolt bushings, or crankshaft offset woodruff keys. Degreeing the cam to make sure it is spot on.
