Default brake rotors

anybody hear of the emergency brake wearing down the inside brake pad on the passenger rear prematurely? went to a brake shop today and they gave me this line. the inner pad is totally gone, and has ruined the rotor. was thinking about resurfacing, but might look into just getting new rotors for the rear.

ok, well, i might be wrong on this, but i was thinking the emergency brake was on the inside of the rear brake drum/roter. isn't the rear both..?? hence the big drum and not the same look as the front. sorry fellas, i am probably wrong so don't shoot me too bad here.

no your right the guy showed me where the e-brake is and its on the inside of the brake rotor. something to have to do with the spring on the brake cable just trying to figure out if he is giving me a line of bs. 110.00 dollars for a break job. kinda hesitant on throwing that kind of money down, on something i have never heard of before. he said it happens alot to the Z71's alot but he hadn't seen to many 1/2 tons with this problem

my two cents. if your brakes work fine and the problem is with the ebrake, then i would rather save the money and carry a block of wood around so i could spend the 110 else where. truthfully, i never use my ebrak, now if the outside of the roter is damaged, well, you kinda need it, i'd look at junk yards to find some before i purchased new ones. a little time on your part could save a lot of money.

Hes not shiting you.. same thing happened to a friend of mine.. the damn ebrake just drags all the time on his truck. so he did the same thing let it wear out and totes a nice pretty 110 dollar saving block of wood.

well, i probably wouldn't get pads for the inside of the brake drum. just the outside rotors. now if the rotors need turning, take'em to advance or autozone, etc, they can turn brake rotors. tell them to leave the inside alone. then go about your business. like i said, my tranny hold well enough that i don't need a ebrake.
