Default BigTex-Cam Install Update

Let me say this. It kicks ***. Got the truck mostly back together last night at 9:00 pm and fired it up with open headers. It sounds great. Finished up today and for the first time with 305/70/16 tires it spun the tires from a 25 mph kickdown to first. It gets up to 110 mph in a hurry also. I am very pleased with the results. Check engine light is on for the P0300 misfire due to the lope but with the stock hole in the throttle body and just HPIII 93 octane tuning it screams. With the Dynomax exhaust I have it covers the lope well but you sure can feel it. Bottom end is better than ever and pulls hard all the way to the 6000 rpm shift point. I have to change underwear now because I jizzed in them from having so much fun today Later

Man thats great -

Ok you have had 3 cams in now? What were they and whats the story on each of them? I have the 01 LS6 and its top end is great, but low end stinks. I want that bottom end grunt. Gimme the info!

Thanks for the update. I will have to give that crane cam some further thought. You say it has some lope to it? ummmmmm I like it.

Ok first was the 2001 LS6 cam. Power to high in the band . Took it out and put a 6.0 liter cam from a 2001 engine in and low end came back but power sucked . It was not as bad as the 99 5.3 cam but it still sucked. I really like this one. Lift is not as much as others but I am happy and this one is staying here. I just finally bit the bullet and spent the money.

Is there anything you can do to take care of the check engine light? Other than the light everything else sounds righteous.

Glad you found a cam you like Jody. I wonder how a cam with those same specs, but with about .525 lift would do in a stock 6.0? Hmmm.....

For the light one of two things. Not let it idle for too long without blipping the throttle or LS1 edit. Or you can do the !SES light mod.

I assume your have a 99 5.3L?

Do you think that the cam could tow 5000 lbs pretty good?
