I am assuming you changed out you springs when you first put in the LS6 cam, right? Did you keep the LS6 springs in if you did? I was looking at that exact cam because of the .500 lift so I wouldn't HAVE to change out my springs (but I know it would be a good idea anyway). I am also looking at a Comp grind with similar duration/LSA but a little higher lift. Glad to see that that duration/LSA works good in the trucks.

Yep the springs were put in for the LS6 cam and I have just left them there. I still have no complaints after driving it all day except for having to lay the smack down on a Toyota Tundra today .

I am looking to put in a cam in my 01 5.3L truck.

Do you think the 01 Z06 cam would tow 5000lbs?

I would not try it. The LSA is way to high for low end grunt which is what we need to move these pigs. The cam I have now would do it without a doubt. From off idle to 6000 rpm the power is just there. It will snap the hell out of your neck.

I was looking at the specs to your cam they are mid range. I like the numbers mt truck is a dog up to about 15 to 20 miles an hour, it won't put out enough low end tq to spin the tires. I'm looking for heads and cam package. do you think the cam will match with the Stage 2 heads? congrats on finding a cam that works in your truck....

To be honest I don't know. My heads have a home brew port job from a couple years ago. Off idle tourqe with this cam is excellent though.

Jody, now that you have had a little time to drive it, whats the word? How about throttle response? Freeway passing?

Do you have your complete cam card handy? What is the base circle on this cam?

Thanks
Richard

It still kicks *** . Throttle response is excellent and freeway passing is also right there. I really need to get LS1 edit to work on the tranny shift points, kickdown speeds etc. I will scan the cam card tonight and email it to you. I am at work right now. It will be after 8:00 pm EST before I can get it to you. Crane also has it on there website.

My next mod will be a converter. A mild one though. I have to let the wife cool down first after this mod though.
