Default Bigger fuel injectors for cammed 5.3?

I have an 02 5.3 with a tr224 cam and full boltons. It has stock fuel injectors now. Would I see any gain or do I need to go with bigger injectors? Down the road it will probably get some form of FI or a 6.0, hell maybe both , what size injectors would I need then? If all that were to happen I'd be shooting for close to 500 at the wheels.

For just a cam swap I think your stocks will be more than enough. If you are really curious find someone with HP Tuners or EFI Live and to do some data logging and see how they are performing

as for once FI or a different motor I know my Procharger kit for my 6.2L is coming with 60# ls9 injectors.

tr224 is a big cam for a 5.3
I would say the stock injectors are about maxxed out upper 90% duty cycle i bet
TR220 n 243 heads maxxed my stocks out shifting at 6700
I upgraded to 31# regular 8.1 injectors

Yeah if it were a smaller cam and I didn't plan to spin it above 6k I would think they would be fine. I'm going to get it dyno tuned so I guess I will find out. Just hoping I won't have to put bigger ones in after the tune. That being said I don't want to buy a set of injectors just to turn around and buy a different set if I go FI.

Agree with supra, get the injectors you will need for the turbo. Even though they may be more than what you need, the tune should be able to correct for them.

long as you have injector flow data you can run a big injector in your setup
All in the tune !
buy a set of 60# injectors and be done

What is the optimum duty range for an injector? Will they fail if they are pushed close to their limit? I mean they are not going to see WOT all the time. If they are close to maxed out it should be ok right?

I think 80% isn't stressing them too much for daily use... There are a lot of guys that have seen 100%+ I just wouldn't be comfortable running them that hard. I agree with Graymatter. Go ahead and grab the 60's. They'll be a pain to tune probably for idle, but then you won't have to mess with changing them again when you go FI.
