maybe try installing a cutout before your muffler, that will greatly improve the sound of the cam when you open it up before going through the process of changing the cam out again. just a thought

Is that in a heavy extended cab 4x4 with 33x12.50 tires?

I'd stick with what you have and add an electric cutout when you want to hear some lope.

I've considered that. How does that affect AFRs, since it's being tuned without the cutout?

I've monitored mine before and it didn't change at all. If anything it might lean it out a little, and thats why generally you pick up some power.

installed far enough toward the muffler it shouldnt really affect your AFR at all. if you installed two right off your collectors thatd be a different story, haha. honestly itll help you get that choppy sound you want without spending the money on a new cam and install and these trucks really sound great with a cam and open cutout.

My cam is bigger than yours, even with open exhaust it's tame as ****. I was severely disappointed. I wouldn't mind switching to a 230s cam, but this thing already struggles to turn the 80e over down low.

I couldn't be happier with the power and broad powerband of this cam. It's stupid strong everywhere, with an emphasis down low. I can't imagine any other cam running better. As fickle as it sounds, all I'm after is that nasty lope. No way would I give up the power I've got for more lope, just trying to figure out how to maximize both sound and performance. A cutout might just be the ticket. I have a hunch I'd love turn downs right after the muffler, but I tried that before and it was too loud for interstate trips. A cutout would allow me to turn it on and off when ever I want. It should be easy to install too, since I've got a single 3" in muffler. The only complication I see is the cross member. I'll just have to get under there and have a look.
