......will help in the city in the summer I know. That clutch fan will gulp it in the city heat.

A Light weight bed cover should help a tad on the highway.
I have an Access Bed Cover and love it.

Has he cleaned the MAF sensor elements since the K&N install? Some times, according to how much they are oiled, at first they will leave a little bit of a film on the sensors after a few passing gear runs, causing them to give inaccurate signals.

I am not a fan of Gibson. I put one of their single cat backs on my old 1997 ECSB Z71 5.7 and it really had a negative noticable effect on low end and mpg. I dropped it at once and got the low end and mpg back. But at passing gear rpms it was stronger.

Get some lighter tires. If he does not tow heavy and is not off road too much, have him get some Michelin CrossTerrains. They are a "P" rated tire and lighter than an "LT" rated tire. VERY quiet running also.

Default Custom Tune

I picked up almost 2 mpg when I got my first Westers 87/89 dual tune. I ask for a towing & mileage tune. Also got a boost in performance too. I agree...cleaning the maf a few miles after oiling the k&n will help too.

One (1) brick or comparable 2x4 placed under the lowerside of the right pedal is known to give good gas milage, too bad my lead foot shatters thru them

Pull off the maf and get some electronics cleaner and spray it on the sensor wires.

ha beat you, dont even need to pull it, with it being so close to the air filter you should be able to shoot the spray right in after you pull the filter
