Optima Red Top. Any new vehicle that gets brought home from the show room floor in my family gets the old junker tossed out, with a Red Top put in. They're about $180 per battery. WELL worth it. I don't know how many times I've gone to the drive-in movies and sat through 4 full length movies until 4 in the morning, jump started the guy next to me after his battery died, THEN just turn the key and drive away without a problem. In my show trucks, they get the Yellow Top by Optima simply because of the continuous abuse they see from speaker and woofer amplifiers. Red Tops are more for truck abuse and daily driving.

I've got a Red Top but I think I'm going with a Diehard Platinum next time. My first Red Top was replaced under warranty when a cell went bad at about 1 year old.

I think the stock 6 year Delco battery is great.

I'd rethink that optima. I've replaced 3 of them in different project vehicles in the last couple of years. It's been a topic on other forums that the co. was sold and quality control is nonexistant. Heard that some of them are made overseas now.

I've used Interstate for years and never had a problem. I have a MegaTron in my truck now. I've heard good things about the Optima's also, but they're a little pricey.

I've been very pleased with the 2 or 3 Optima RTs that I've had...sorry to hear they're experiencing QA issues under new ownership, though! If that's the case, I will probably go with Interstate when I need to replace the current battery.
