Default Beating a dead horse

Hey Guys new member, have been reading for about a month and a half to find a cam for my 5.3. I looking to install a set of Lts with a cai and i already have ls6 yellow springs. I have 3.42 gears wanting to keep those gears and maybe a supercharger bout four years from now. But for now just the cam i need help with. I am just wanting to give some sports cars a run for their money when they come blowing by me. My truck is a 4x4. Always have been wanting to have a truck that blows up sportscars. From what i have read the tr220 would do well also the 212/218 low lift. And also was wondering what can i expect with these mods with a good tune. thanks in advance!

I love the mid range power my 212/218 makes if I were to do it all over again id go with something a lil bigger like a 224/224 just because I have an upgraded tranny and higher stall and I feel this cam is too baby for the mods i have i would like something with a lil bit more top end.

That will be a nice set up but as for the cam its a little smaller than others most guys are running which would require little to no stall! There are many guys on here with that same setup who are very happy. I would do a lot of research so you dont do the install and then regret what ya bought. Are you wanting to know hp #'s you mean?

you have a crew cab 5.3 4x4. it's going to take alot more than a cam to mess with sports cars. with that being said, i personally witnessed how good a 212/218 low lift cam pulls i would also get a bigger stall than 2100. 2800-3000 would be nice for 4x4.

thanks guys...comp told me to go with the highlift version with a 115 lsa. I have been reading and i think i like the low lift 114 lsa. So a you think a bigger cam like the 224 would be better with a 2800 stall? This is my daily driver so not wanting a all out race truck that gets 10mpg. I get 16-17 city right now with 18 hwy running 80mph. So how much loss with the 224 and the 2800 stall should i expect? i thik the stall will not be too bad but was really wondering bout the cam. Yes if anyone has hp numbers thats close to this setup that would be awesome...i have read on here till i cant remember everything lol. So yes little help would be appreciated. Thanks for the fast response guys!

The higher the stall the more its going to take to get your truck running from a dead stand still off idle.

So the bigger the cam..the more need for a larger stall.

I have a 2005 cc 4x4 with mods in the sig cam is tsp 220 with 2800 stall i wish i had about a 3200 the stall i have now will flash to about 3200 flat footed because the trucks so heavy if i had a 3200 it would flash probably to about 3600 if it was a 9.5" which is what i currently have. dyno numbers were kinda low it put down iirc 294hp and 312 tq so with the transfer case and the 33's i have they eat alot up if it was 2wd and factory tires u would be looking at around 320 to 330 hp. Also i only get avg 12-14mpg hope this helps ya a little

Thanks 81.It does help alot. Do you think that the 33 's are hurting your mpg or the cam and stall? i am running 20's 2755520. Should i expect the same if i do a tsp220 with a 3000 stall. Also would the ls6 yellow springs hold up with that cam?
