Fast On Race Day to ford owners

It was a badass truck, but I was always wanting more, and the more power I wanted the more expensive everything started to cost, basically was becoming a bottomless pit. I also had concerns it wouldn't be reliable enough for my long commute to work every day.

Here is the new beater

Dont worry, I'll be doing another truck project when the time comes. I'm thinking turbo LS(?) '72 c10 this time around

I likey!
My wife wants a new 550i. I might wait for a certified used one that is a year old. The new ones cost around 52,000K. A little steep to me. IMO. The 550i just came out, so she will just have to wait a while and keep driving the ole 01' reliable 3.8L Impala LS. It only has 60,000K and has yet to give me a problem other than a tie rod end. It still looks and runs like new, so I see no reason to give it up quite yet. Maybe after another 25,000 more mi.
Other vehicles I been looking at to buy: The new Impala SS, Cadillac CTS-V, or Nissan Maxima.
Just curious, but if you don't mind, what did you end up selling the GMC for?

Jim

now now, im not racist against other brands of vehicle or against imports...my mother drives a honda s2000 and i enjoy it very much not to mention all the other ricers that are american based platforms liek the cobalt or SRT4 neon, if you noticed i did post that thread with the 9sec geometro. i agree anything CAN last long if you maintain i have just seen too many, and read about too many people that put the same amount of time and money that other do in their GM's and the ford dies. however im sure plenty of people put tons of the same into GMs and they die before other makes like toyota and stuff. yes i know i said lawn people in texas and i know for a fact i was debating to actually type it here for about ten minutes but i decided what the hell. do i hate ford? no. would i ride in one? yea would i buy one? probably not. so yea blame me for brand loyalty but dont get me wrong i respect what SVT did with their platform its just not for me.

Now, as far as what we tip the scales at and stock vs. modded times....

We tip in at 4600#'s. Yeah, we're heavy. We've got 1 ton drivetrain. What can you do? It holds up well, but it's heavy.

Stock times - I've seen anywhere btwn 14.0 flat to 13.4's stock. There was one guy, and I'll see if I can find a link to back myself up here, that was claiming a 13.1 with nothing more than DR's. Our trucks are SEVERALY under rated from the factory. Mine is rated at 380/450. Bone stock with 65k I put down 360/430. Do the math on that one, it comes out to way more than Ford claims.

those trucks get weird after long burnouts and wont allow full boost after that and then he will be nice and hot and spraying could result in automatic win for you as in his motor just popped like a cherry and they do have hypertechic pistons which hate denotation
That's the stock ECM dumping boost. Almost every tune out there turns that feature off. But you're right on the pistons. They don't like detonation at all. The real problems lie in our rods. They're the weak point in our motors.

i do infact appreciate all things that are fast, i did not mean to make it seem like i didnt. what i mean to evoke is the fact that i am loyal to my brand and fords, including the L just arent for me. heck, any vehicle that has a one-letter surname has to have a reputation that holds its own.(L)
