i thought this for track only tires. umm.. im sure it would be fine at 130mph at the track, but on the front end for daily driving, if you had to brake or swerve.. the wall would prolly wrinkle. Im just assuming it wouldnt be good for daily driving.

yea many many lightning guys run 28x10x16 hoosier slicks or dots. they pull outragous 60' times ofcourse. might want to try that out. if you cant hook on a 28" slick then you might want to address the suspension tuning. just my .02

I am thinking about running 28x12x16 when I find some lightweight 16's. I thought about running 15's for the track but I really dont want to grind on my calipers. And it is hard enough to find a set of rims in the 16's that are 6 lug.
I have a set of caltracs for the truck now, is there any other suspension parts we can use beside lowering springs. I want to keep my stock ride height. (sorry didnt mean to change the post question)

go junkyard searching, probably cheaper than shipping both ways just to borrow a set. all full size blazers have 15" 6 bolt wheels, i actually went last week to get a 2 for myself only paid $30 for 2(i only need them for the back when i go race) keep my 20" for the street. so i would go check that out and then you'll know for sure if they fit or not before spending the bucks on new rims

I would suggest keeping your aluminum stockers and putting a Nitto drag radial on them. Put 245/50/r16 nitto drag radials all away around. Lauch that bitch in first gear with all four tires trust me you will cut some good 60 foots.
I am running them on the back of my truck and they hook pretty good.
Plus 26" tall tires will help your gear ratio also.
Just my .02 cents.

From a safety point of view and steering you have to at least stay with a drag radial. If you drop back to 15" wheels I would go with the 275/60R15 BFG drag radial. It's almost 28" tall and should hook with your current set-up. In dry conditions you could get by with it on the street.

You need to find a 15" wheel with as much clearance inside the wheel as possible. I tried a set of 16" wheels from a mid 90s Chevy 4x4, and they wouldn't clear by a long shot. Even though they were 16" wheels, they had lots of material in the center of the wheel which hit the calipers. I tried grinding and 1/2" spacers without any luck. But if you can find some 15" wheels that clear that amount on the inside, you could make them fit I think.

I have a set of Nitto 450 275.50.17s mounted to some escalade wheels. Total height is 28" and the width is just over 11". My truck feels darn peppy running them instead of my 20s. I drop 4" in diameter for gearing, and probably 75 pounds total of rotating weight. They hook well, and are ZR-W rated (up to 168 mph).

Been so busy here lately trying to finish up my 408 stroker project I haven't got to the strip with it yet. Also I wanted to break it in a little. A few runs with the G-tech show it at 13.3@107. I believe it's capable of high 12's. It's hard to master shifting the 6-speed with so much torque. Seems like you have to shift on peak to stay off the rev limiter.

Got a deal on it.......paid under sticker!
