Default Back again! Metal in oil

Well it has been quite a while since I have been on here. Too bad it had to be because my truck is dying again. I had put a cammed ls6 in the truck and thought I was done modding for a while. Well after about 30k miles on the motor, it is dying. Anyway there is metal in the oil and the oil pressure is dropping fast. To make a long story short, I kept having a problem with the crank bolt coming loose. I guess it vibrated loose and wallered {sp?} the balancer out. Then balancer bolt was tight but the balancer was flopping around. The best way to explain it was the crank snout was a .30 over piston in a .60 sleeve. I had my three year old with me so I had to drive it home like that to get us home. {about 15 miles} Plus I didnt know that is what its was at the time. I think it may have caused enough vibration to knock out a bearing or two. Anyway I dont know if I should fix it or find 6.0 short block to throw in there. I only have about $2000 to get it going again for now. Any suggestion? Any one got a cheap 6.0, ls2, or ls6 short block for sale?

LKQ in Fayetteville quoted me $1400 for an '08 LY6 last week, bet they could do better on an LQ4...and you'd have a couple of bucks for a cam and head work.

Would i be better off throwing a crank and bearings in my ls6? Do all the new motors such as the new 6.2 swap right in? I havent kept up with these motors since ls1's , ls6s , ans such. Whats up with a ly6?

the 07+ motors are 58x vs your truck thats 24x.
you can run the 58x in your truck IF you swap to a 24x collector ring, cam gear, or run a 58x to 24x conversion module (275.00) then you have to drill and tap the knock sensors to fit your Gen III knock sensors 11/32 10x1.5mm tap, extend your knock sensor harness to reach the new location. you have an 00 so you'll have to upgrade to a 90mm 4 bolt DBC TB (250.00+) swap your flywheel over to the new motor.

the crank bolt falling out has happened to a buddy of mine. dont re-use the original if you did. try the arp bolt. i guess you can never torque the original tight enough after its been pulled out. always replace it imo. also, i think you could find another 6.0 pretty easily if you dont feel comfortable rebuilding the same motor again. good luck, let us know what you do

......and I would pin the balancer before the new bolt on whatever block decision.....too cheap an added insurance not too.
