Default Attn: Peeps with new body 4 door Tahoes...re brakes

I know those vehicles come with two piston rear calipers. Can someone who has one measure the distance betweent the mounting bolts for me?

Just crawl under it with a tape measure and post up the distance between them...I have an odd idea that they may work on the 1500 trucks.

Thanks!

Does the Avalanche have these brakes?

I know I've got disks out back... but that's about all I know about them.

I'll have my rear wheels one of these nights. I'm planning for tomorrow. (might have a wheel bearing going bad.)

'Burbans do too, so I'd assume the 'Lanche does also. The bigger vehicles all get 2 piston rears.

Allright - I'll try to get a measurement from the back-side tonight. If I can't see anything (the backplate, splashguard thing might be in the way), I'll pull a wheel tomorrow.

The caliper is a snap to get to from the back side. Just toss down an old rug and whip out a small tape is all that needs to be done.

Thanks a lot!

If they are the same that means the 2 piston calipers should bolt on to the 1500 trucks

No problem!

Yeah, I didn't realize they were that easy to get too. It's a little tight back there, but ahh..... I hope, "extremely close, if not EXACTLY 4 inches", is what you were looking for.

It was a bit of a PITA to stick my head up between the trailing arms or side-links or whatever to see exactly how accurate I was with the tape measure. I had to look at things from an angle. I can get back under there and give it a whole-hearted try with a caliper if needed.

Ben: I haven't checked them out... I'll keep it in mind next time I'm down my buddy's salvage yard.

Damn, I measured 6.5" between the bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket. Ah well.

Thanks for helping!

Hold on!

I believe there were another set of bolts - basically the pins on the caliper. Those looked to be about 6-something inches apart.

They (the calipers) were mounted to a wide V-shaped bracket. The wide end looked to be about 6 inches, the other 4 inches - those were the bolts I measured. The bracket itself is only about 2" tall?

So it goes: axle tube to backing plate. Backing plate to caliper bracket - 4" distance on the bolts. Caliper bracket to caliper - ~6" distance on the bolts.

I just assumed that bracket was part of the disk setup, not something that might have been shared with the drums.

Let me try this again.
