1slow,

Are you having the assembly and machining (on the shortblock) done here in AL? If so, I'd be interested to know what machine shop your using and your opinion of them (cost, know lsx engines, etc?)
I'm in Hayden, AL . . . about 30 miles N of B'ham . . . and would love to see recommendations on good local machine shops. If you'd rather not post the info, feel free to PM me.

Thanks,
Kipp

The truck is at my house in Hartselle. I'm sure you know where that is, about 30 miles north of you on I-65. The shop he is using is per my recomendation. They have never done machine work on a genIII motor, but they won't be able to say that after this build. It is Morgan Co speed shop, used to be called S&W speed shop, any how it is in Hartselle and I highly recommend them for anything performance wise. It is a father and son operation that has been going since the early 80's.

Now if only I could get my rotating assembly to them so we could start putting the motor back together

Well I got off the phone with the speed shop a little bit ago and it seems I will be going with a forged eagle crank 4.100", forged eagle h-beam rods, and JE SRP pistons with about a 10.2-3 CR. Decided to keep it a little lower so later on down the road if I want to throw a turbo on it I can switch to 6L heads and drop my CR down in the low 9s.

I just saw those pistons the other day, they are a very light piston. I don't think you have to notch the number 8 with them, it will clear the reluctor ring. They have a very small skirt.

I hope no extra machining will be needed the smaller amount of time its at the machine shop the more time I have to get it together
