I had the cheap Delphi bulk LS7 lifters and they had that sewing machine noise I couldn't get rid of with different preload (pushrods) settings. The real LS7 lifters cost around $250 if you're buying them for around $125 they are most likely the Delphi bulk lifters.

LS engines are valvetrain noise lol. You shouldn't expect any more noise than normal with the LS7 lifters.

If you want to get rid of the sewing machine noise in an LS motor, go with Johnson lifters. Expensive but, worth the investment.

I agree the 2110 Johnsons are the best drop in lifter for the LS engines. They install these in the COPO Camaro's that turn 8,000 RPM. I've had good luck with the Morel 6504 lifters about half the price as the 2110's. Very quiet and no issues revving to 7000 RPM. After living with the noisy bulk Delphi's... I'll never use the Delphi's again.

Delphi Bulk

Morel 6504

GM LS7

Johnson 2110

I went with Johnsons after I had LS7 lifters fail twice and wipe out my cam each time.

I run Johnson lifters. It still sounds like a LS sewing machine. It's not a bad thing. It just is what it is. The noise tends to be amplified after removing the cast manifolds for longtube IMO.

I can probably second this for long tubes. Been chasing the sewing machine at 1500rpm. I can hear it just chuggin around the neighborhood. I have a baby summit cam, 7.4 pushrods and over .100 of preload. went down to a 7.375 and I think it helped a little...but...just a big ole sewing machine...ugh
