Default any transmission tuning pro's around here?

i will of course go do some studying on the subject but maybe one of you guys has it all figured out and could enlighten me.

with my last truck it was vacume controled, all i adjusted was the shift points, what can i do to get quicker and firmer shifts and what can i do so it hold the gear better, i think it is slipping mid 2nd gear.

I think the pcm commands max line pressure at WOT anyway. So bumping up the pressure with edit will just raise it at part throttle. I don't think edit will fix the slipping.

I know on the 4l60E you can lower the shift time table to 0.00 in edit to quicken up the shifts. It may work differently on the 80E though.

There was a post in the auto trans section about changing to type F fluid for less slippage.

Seems like alot of guys do it with the 4l60E with no problems.

There is a table, I can't remember what it's called though, something long and wierd in the rtanny tab. I know it has like 3 variables on the title.

This is where you can raise/lower line pressure. You are actually adjusting the voltage that is sent to the electronic modulator or whatever it's called. The more voltage, the higher line pressure. If I remember right, 1.0 or .999 was as high as you could go. My HPP3 tuning on the black truck only raised it to something around .7xx or so, maybe up to .8xx. I can't remember. Try looking at some other flash files from the database.

If you want, I can give you the files from my truck with the radix tune (raised line presure and shortened shift times) and with HPP3 and stock.

I think there's another one where you raise/lower it by gear. Something like Base pressure or something. Check out the EDIT manual, that's where I got some of my info from.

Isn't Type F like Power Steering fluid? I am about 98% sure that on my Ford that the Power Steering fluid is Type F ATF...

I have Dex III/Mercon in my Ford trans... so you got me there. Slips less think b/c it's heavier?

Parish the line pressure is controlled by solenoids in each gear that reduce or increase line pressure to meet the needs of the transmission. My TCI computer shows a graph for each gear, that allows me to adjust line pressure relative to throttle position.I'm sure the PCM has a way to adjust the individual solenoids that control line pressures.Higher line pressures will give firmer shifts and less slippage within reason.
