Well then I would say if you are sucking the pan dry then you need to pay to play. You will either have to go dry sump or a larger oil pan.

If someone could educate me, where are his 5.7 liters of oil going when he pumps the pan dry? Surely it isn't suspended or vaporized in midair is it? I've taken these engines apart and haven't seen any cavities big enough to consume that much, even the valve covers won't hold that much without it rapidly draining into the pan.

I could see it being frothed and air pockets being sucked in, but that's a baffle issue and not so much a capacity issue. Even adding another few quarts of oil capacity won't fix air bubbles.

You might look at a 2001-4 Z06 oil pan from a Corvette. In road racing/HPDE trim the continually hit 6200-6500 for long periods of time. As I recall they had batwings for oil control. Been 10 years since I had my Z so this is from memory.

The ls motors are really picking up in the dirt track world and they live at 6000-7000 for 20+ mins.. On a stock rod sbc I've flat footed around the track for long periods of time from 6500-7600multiple times and the ls rod is far better than the old sbc rod.
Sometimes **** just happens..
