Question ANOTHER header thread (already have them, time for install)

I finally got my Pacesetter LTs. I tried searching earlier to find answers but I'm still unsure on a few things. I plan on installing them this weekend. I do have a few questions I'd like cleared up before I install them though. I had originally purchased Dynatech VBand Clamps to clamp the header collectors together with the y pipe but after I got my headers, I realized that the clamps are too small. What did you use to secure the headers to the ypipe? Also, what method did you use to remove the 02 sensors? Did you use an 02 socket or a cresent wrench? Also, do you have to remove them while the exhaust is warm? And for those who have deleted the rear 02s, what did you do with the rear 02s after removing them?

Thanks in advance!

3 inch band clamps, and the o2 sensors can be removed with the exhaust cold and a cresent wrench. I would recommend you spray them down with some penetrating lube though. As for the rear o2's just tape up the connectors and zip tie them out of the way. Keep the sensors someplace safe in case you decide to use them later.

Okay...let me see if I can help you.

1. weld up the collector don't use clamps

2. I removed the O2 sensors with a O2 sensor socket

3. If you use a cresent wrench, remove the sensor when the pipe is hot for easier removal.

4. I have my rear ones deleted, after tuning them off, I just took them out and used brass plugs to cap them.

Hope this answered your questions

I jsut installed them on my truck...virtually the same as yours

First off..remove all your stock stuff...Take out the plugs and wires...remove the o2's...Spray them down with penetrating lube, or heat with a small torch to warm it up.

Now any clamp will really work, but a clamp that you link would work great if the Y pipe had a slit in the pipe...then put the open portion of the clamp on the part of the y pipe that is cut..tighten it..this way it will pull it really tight....

Its better to get collectors welded on etc...but id say 95% of everyone with pace's just clamp them

You can remove your 2 rear o2 sensors...just need to tune them outta the computer....and plug the bunges

Spend another hour searching and save yourself several hours of BS later on.

I hope I'm not sounding like a jerk.

There is a lot of good info out there, just takes some time to sort through.

you've had no exhaust leaks with these? also, for you all running headers, are you using heat sleeves for your plug wires? i still have my factory wires and have no intentions of changing them yet.
