Default another e-fan q?

I know theres a lot of treads with e-fan info, but from what I read, I just dont get the info I want.
I Was consdering doing the Flex-a-lite 292 fans, they will fit my 04 1500 for sure? If I get a Nelson harness, will that effect my Westers tune, or is it just plug in and play. Do I need a re-tune.
Do I need a harness or does the VSC do something in place of that? Im not doing the install myself just getting info for speedshops install to go easier.

Thanks in advance.
Jesse

I don't know about the Flex-A-Lite fitment, but I know for sure that if you use the Nelson harness you will need the PCM retuned to turn the fans on and off. I have a PCMforLess Tune with the Nelson harness and it works great, I don't see any reason why Wester's couldn't retune your PCM to ground pin42 at a pre-determined engine temp.

hey bud,
thanks for the reply, I see that you have 05 fans in your truck, did you get them from the dealer? were you able to keep your stock radiator, or did you have to get the bigger one also?

Thanks,
Jesse

I read a little more into it, and talked to the service manager down at my dealer, he said not to bother with the stock unit, and try and go with an aftermarket one. Does the Flex a lite set up with the VSC make it so a harness is not needed?
I found this set up http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a.../CategoryID/28

Is that what I need for the whole install?
I also found an installation page http://james.jaguar.net/agreif/fans/fanstech.htm

Is this the same set up as the kit from Stylinconcepts?
Is there a different kit with that fan and a harness to make thing cleaner?

Please help
Thanks,
Jesse

I got my fans complete from G&R Auto Parts for about $200, they're new factory take-offs (less than 20 miles on them when I got them). Had to get the bigger 34" radiator also, which I got from the Radiator Barn for around $240. Nelson Harness was $89 + $11 for shipping.

Yes, all you need is the flex-a-lite 292 kit. It comes with fans, VSC, wiring, temp probe, instructions and all connectors. It can be had for way less at other places. look up FLX-292 at Summit.

Yes, this is the same 292 kit. A lot of people have had problems with the VSC (and the OLD fuse holder they used to package) and this is why they will get the Nelson harness to wire up the fans. That harness can be provided to hook up to the PCM in order for it to control the main fan. Programming would be needed in for this to happen, if your current tune did not already include it.

You could also just do the wiring yourself (which is what I did) - it's a bit more work, but it was well worth it.
