Default AmsOil 0W-30 too much for 4.6 v6?

After reading some of bob is the oil guy and patmans suggestions for the lsx engine, German Castrol is recommended for at 0w-30. My father just bought a new v6 silverado and we were just wondering if changing to 0W-30 is also recommended? Or should he stick to the recommended 5W-30?

Couldn't talk him into at least a 4.8??

The 0w just flows a little better when cold, right? Unless you live waaaaaaaaaaaaaay up North why would you need that low of a bottom number?

That would be a 4.3 not a 4.6 that he has.
