Could someone specify exactly where the connections are to be made. I'm trying to match up the write ups with the one picture, and i am confused.

Alternator to battery positive that one i get. the picture on the first page of this thread seems to show two new wires from the positive on the battery, one too the alternator and one off the picture along the fuel rail?

One from the negative to engine (on the side just below alternator) and another ground going from that bolt to the back of the engine off the picture.
i have an existing factory ground going from the negative down to the chassis just behind the bumper, did yall replace or just delete this one by running the negative to that bolt by the alternator?

All I did was use 1 wire, since its cleaner and easier, 4ga wire (scoche red) and two 4ga brass eyelets on each side crimped and soldered after...from the alternator to the red box...

that's why you buy a wire that has a fusible link buit in or use a regular wire with a mega fuse.

They'll all help. You get the best results by doing the whole package, but you can just do things one step at a time.

The fusible link from the alt to the junction box is 8ga. The "heavy" cable from the battery to the junction box (and then to the starter) is only 6ga!

4ga all around should be considered a minimum. I really need to take some pictures of what I ended up doing. I did what I thought was a good setup, then added a decent sound system (300W, no sub). Alternator whine! About 10' of welding cable later (in addition to several 4ga battery cables) and no whine. And absolutely rock-steady voltages.

One thing I don't see mentioned often is the handy built-in high-capacity fuse holder in the electrical box. If you take the cover completely off there is a spot for a mega fuse. Autozone just happens to sell 175A ones. I use this for my alternator fuse.
