Ooo wee! That brings back some memories. I wouldn't worry about rear 02 codes. That won't hurt much (if any). From what I understand, they only report operation of cats anyhow (efficient or non-efficient). I ran manifolds only for about three days. The ride to the exhaust shop was great. Passed thru a construction zone, and went WOT. Sounded like a pro comp car. The sound of air trying to be sucked back in the manifolds was wierd though.

I didn't see any notched parts, so fitment couldn't have been that big of an issue.

The easiest way to install the y pipe is to support the tranny with a bottle jack and drop the k member.. The y pipe will slide right in place with ease.. I didnt have to remove teh spark plugs to install my LT's..

thanks for telling me that AFTER i already cut enough off of the Y pipe so that the clamp bracket thing would just barely hold and it still didnt slide on. i cut enough so the openings match but they didnt slide together. for some reason i have this fear of trannys and i HATE messing with them myself. regardless, i slid on the connecter that ataches the Y to the muffle pipe section to the end of the passenger side header and the "j tube" lookin one to the drivers side so i would have a little back pressure and the front o2's wouldnt be so exposed and i started her up. wow, now i understand why people at the strip by a pro comp wear ear muffs. the sound kinda reminded me of the meanest, ugliest go kart ever. i started to get nervous when there was smoke under the hood, thought i had an exhaust leak but no noise plus the entire header was smoking from all the frame coating and grease melting off of them. it definitly sounds mean but i will also definitly be takin my moms car to church today, its a little loud. tomorrow first thing im gonna head over to meineke and have them fab up a Y pipe for me. i was on my last leg with this install and the Y pipe not fittin pushed me over ha ha so i said f-ck this. never quit a project before but im tired of all the fitment problems. at least when its done and tuned for ill be very happy. seeing how i COULD have made it fit if i had a torch made me sing to myself "all i want for christmas is an oxy-acetylene torch, an oxy-acetylene torch, an oxy-acetylene torch and a mig welder too." o well im done with it and it will be done monday morning.

edit: oh and all you people who are saying my trouble brought back memories, where the hell were you when everyone was telling me it wouldnt be that bad and things just fit right up???

update: just went cruising i was going to get on it some but because there was SOOO little back pressure and tubing after the end of the headers (i assume) it backfired and felt like to was on the edge of backfiring when i got to about 1/2 throttle. but even calmly entering the freeway i could feel a definitly gain that was coming on about 1800 or 2000 rpm ish which should work wonderfully for me and my stall. lost real low end like idle to 1500 but thats expected. now i just need a Y pipe. its real weird though with the exhuast coming out right under the cab EVERYTHING and i mean everything rattles and buzzes and stuff. 6 year old plastic you know, but that should be fixed when i get it hooked to the muffller or even the cutout 3ft later. ill try to find a friend with a digital camera that records sound clips or short videos and ill post one up

HAHA! It took me a week and a half!!! Well I had to sell my stock setup before I had the money for my LTs and ORY! So the truck was sitting the the garage for 9 days with no exhaust! If I had all the parts it would have taken me about 3 hours and that was with making my own EGR plate! Sorry it is taking so long. Once you get it all together it will be worth it!

so is it normal for there to be back firing with any decent amount of throttle considering the current exhaust set up is missing y-pipe and further? at least i get to drive around my moms ricer s2k. hopefuly meineke doesnt rape me on the price for the custom ORY.

thats what everyone said about the LT's. the LT's fit like crap which in turn made the ORY fit like crap. first of all the ends wouldnt meet cuz pipes too long, once i cut them, the holes didnt line up and wouldnt slide together.

You can use a ratchet strap wrapped around both collectors to bring the collectors closer to slide into the y-pipe.
