Default to all you who said its not bad...

alright so im sure most of you have visited my another LT's thread... well heres the next one. first of all, to all you people who said LT's and ORY was not a major PITA. ef you guys its a PITFA honestly. heres a pick to show you the beginning of my fun trying to remover the driver side manifold ->Y bolts.

yes, i took the sawzall to the manifold and tried to cut the bolt off. no it didnt work. thats 2 hours gone. and i didnt even make it through the first bolt.

now do all you people who said "dont cut your Y-pipe blah blah blah, well here you go. this is what i was left with stock parts wise.

yea i cut it and if i would have i would STILL be under there trying to get those damned bolts off. so i just cut the pipe about 3 inches below the manifold and made it a midlength sized header and pulled it out. much to my appreciation, after soaking everything in PB blaster for 24+ hours the rest of the bolts came off just fine. no header bolts broke. spark plugs are intact, the coil packs are a little loose but its all good i can handle that. now after spending from like 1030 last night until about 1230a this morning and again from about 730 to 1130 this morning what do i have to show for this accomplishment, i have LT's, ORY, no. because i came back home (got a ride all day) and tried to put on the Y, well, it doesnt slide over the passenger side header without hitting the trans crossmember, and i dont want to take that off so in the morning im going to take the sawzall again and cut about a 1/4 inch off of the Y pipe so everything should slide in place. i even bought an impact gun for $100 i was getting so desperate with the bolts but then i didnt have to use it cuz i cut SOB

i figure if worst comes to worst, i have the headers and O2 hooked up so i could run by meineke and get a custom Y pipe made if a cant fanagle a way for this one to fit. i have had so many fitment issue with this package...i had to do the whole shibang, remove plugs and halfshaft to get hte dirvers side in from the bottom and it was hell getting the passeneger side in but stone150 and i ended up shoving it in through the bottom too. none of this would have been posssible without him, many thanks. hopefully tomorrow ill get up early and cut the Y just enough to get it to fit. until then, this is where i am at day 2

hahahaha. LMFAO! sorry to laugh at your pain but holy hell. It took me 2.5 hours tops to do mine and that was looking for tools and dropping bolts into the frame. I had to pull the plugs as well but yea we started at 11 and was at the exhaust shop at 2:30 after lunch. **** Colby's only took an hour. btw i too said ***** it after messing with one flange bolt and ground that bastard off.

yea i was starting to get really pissed. not to mention it was hella hot outside and i was nearly puking from no water or food and all the sweating. BUT the LT's are on now. with the price of some deep sockets and the impact gun, if i had used it, the install by me would have cost about 150$ and i could have done it professionally for 275$....o well, as stone said, at least now ill have the satisfaction of doing it myself. regardless though, the Y pipe still has to get on there, how bad is it to run open headers with about 8 inches of tubing thrown on the end of the collectors to keep the temp up? will it mess with the front o2's? i would only go about 5 miles to the exhaust shop?

Well if you had big issues with the headers alone you might be in for another treat with the y-pipe...
