Default To all you 2/4 Drop guys out there:

I've got a 4.8 2WD 5-Speed, regular cab, sportside, and I have a Belltech 2/4 Kit with the nitro Drop shocks. My question is this, Do any of you have a problem with bottoming out in the rear, and if so, did changing shocks help or must I purchase the C-notch pieces?? Thanks for any suggestions!!

I had the same problems, but a friend of mine got me to cut some of the bump stop off. It actually seemed to help, but I also learned to take it easy on bumps.

I have bottomed out with my Hotchkis 2/4 but only when I hit a big bump going over 40MPH...has to be a speed bump like in residential areas, otherwise it's fine. I have the Edelbrock shocks which are stiff but not too bad. I haven't ridden in a truck with those Nitro's, but either slow down or get stiffer shocks. If worse comes to worse, get the C notch.

2-4 with edelbrocks here, and it does bottom out if I'm going over 45 and hit a bump, like this small bridge I have to drive over everyday. I just took my bumpstops out b/c they would hit very frequently - even after trying very small bump stops from autozone. I will probably end up C notching it within a year.

I did a Beltech 2/4 w/ edelbrocks and small stoppers and I couldn't take the way it bottomed out. I modified the shackles and went to the next hole as in 2/3 drop. That helped a bunch but it still bottomed out on a good bump so I put bags on it and that did the trick. Then I put cal tracks on it. You can pre load these things and make the rear end as stiff as you want. I'm dropping back down to see how this works. I'll have it back together tomorrow and let y'all know what happens.

I have a belltech 3/4 and had the same problem. So I bought rear Air-Ride air-bags that mount above the leaf spring and attach to the frame. Since then I haven't had any problems with bottoming out, and whenever I haul anything, I can just increase the pressure to counter-act the weight of the load. it wasn't too expensive either.

It works. I'm back to a 2/4 drop w/ a light pre load on the caltracks and it doesn't bottom out. What a deal, weight transfer, traction, and ride control as well.

I have the 2/4 and i never bottom out in the rear but I have a c notch it's not hard to do plus if you ever load up the back of your truck this helps also I've loaded alot of weight back there and had no problems.
