Default Airaid Intake question

Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery when installing?? If so, why?? I picked up an Airaid CAD intake at the swapmeet yesterday for $40.00 and figured i'd install it tonight but didn't know if the battery disconnect really was necessary. Thanks in advance.

I dont think it is necessary at all. I installed my volant without disconnecting anything electrical.

It really isnt necessary to disconnect the battery but I did when i put my volant in. I was told to disconnect it because the PCM has to reset to adjust to the new intake with the air/fuel ratio, as far as that being true and a must do, i dont know but I did it anyway

I know it doesn't take long, was more curious as to if it really would affect anything if it wasn't disconnected.
