Default Aftermarket cam in 4.8L?

It seems like everyone on the board that has done a cam swap has a 5.3. Would similar specs apply for the a 4.8, or would I need an even more conservative grind than the 5.3?

Anyone running an aftermarket cam in a 4.8? Any dyno numbers? Thanks!

if you wanted a cam "equal" to one in a 5.3L you would need to run less duration because of the smaller displacement

for instance, the 212/218 comp cam works good in 5.3L, 206/212 in a 4.8L(maybe a little bit on the small side though). if i was actually going to buy a cam for mine i would probably try and go with something like a 212 .540ish single pattern on a 112lsa (if i still had the stock converter)

i dont see why more people have done it, not much more than headers but you will get more power from it

In theory it won't perform. But I am reaserching trying it. However, it is a pretty involved swap. belts and fuel systems will most likely need to be reworked.

why would u say ls6 intake manifold on a 4.8L?unless ur running nitrous, a 3500+ stall, spinning to like 7000rpm with 4.10 gears

greg has to open his mouth. its not fair when what ur planning actually somewhat goes along those lines

as for the belts though, what would cause the belts to need to be rerouted. the fuel system is pretty easy to understand i just cant see the other. then again im runnin on like 3 hours sleep

The main upper idler pulley would be about 1 1/2" too high and would obstruct the TB/intake. The LS6 manifold sits substantially lower.
