Ok, I looked in the emissions section and found P1638 was set for " non emissions" . So i changed it to " not reported" .

Am i right? ( havent reflashed yet )

P1638 in emissions is already set to " not reported".

I see what you are talking about under Engine DTC processing enablers about it being set to Non emissions but I still think under vehicle platform options is where you physically turn it off so that the PCM knows that it doesn't exist on these vehicle and shouldn't continually run the diagnostics for it.

LOL at the dash board arcade...I drove around with mine flashing for a while, I got used to it but I didn't like it...kinda like how I'm driving around now with my check engine light on as I need an EVAP vent valve

I have read this thread and a few others that I could find on this swap and did not find the answer that I was looking for. My question is can a used 02 pcm be used to do this swap or does it need to be a new one? I do have EFI Live for the tuning and if I could do the change myself by moving the current tune over to the new pcm?

Great Point,

I looked in my vehicle platform options and see that the GMT-800 Platform has " yes" for alternator terminal " L" and " F " .

I will change them to " NO" and see if that helps.

Are there any adverse effects to doing this? Other than it not reporting when Alt or Battery is dead? Hell thats what the Amp gauge is for anyway right ? LOL

if y'all are ever lucky enough to get Justin from Blackbear to respond to anything, he might tell you how to do it. when i did my engine swap (99 4.3 to 01 5.3), i reused the v6 alternator & had the battery light & P1638 under my first tune. when Justin did his tune on the truck, i told him about the issue & he said he'd ran into it before - something about looking for voltage regulation or something. whatever he did, i ain't seen that battery light since i installed the computer over a year ago. as for the computer year, i believe it's an 02, but i could be wrong
