Default 8.1 in a RCSB??

I was just wondering if anyone has ever put a 8.1 in a RCSB? I searched but found nothing.

Never seen one but why a 8.1? Isn't it alot easier if you get a 6.0 and upgrade it or stroke it.

I've seen one on the tv show trucks a WHILE back, pretty sweet, but they couldn't get any traction because the engine is so heavy. Made pretty decent power, but you can't compare it to a well set up 6L.

6L>8.1L

I saw another thread about this and someone commented that the frame rails on the 1500 are too narrow for the 8.1. It could be done but it sounds like a lot of work. Mercury Marine makes some awesome power with those big blocks.

The one on Trucks was an HD with a shortened bed I think.

Hell I have seen a duramax in a 1500 a 8.1L should fit!

The 8.1L would be cheaper and you could use a 4l80.

It's not worth the cost, this is asked about every 6 months

Definetly not worth the cost. The 8.1 is a dog and has virtually no aftermarket support. A bolt on 6.0 will beat the snot out of it any day of the week.

The duramax, while it would be awesome, isn't worth it either IMO

I saw a RCLB Duramax that was shortened and had a short bed. You could go this same route with an 8.1 truck.
