If your talking about a Silverado 6.2, the factory stock TB's are small. I swapped my stock 6.2 a few years ago to an LS7 and ported it.

i think on the 2012s they are the same. i had mine ported and polished.

From my experimenting with this and tuning, as far as I can tell, they used the smaller TB to save 1-2 MPG's. However, with tuning and depending on mods, you can get it back.
