Default 6.0L worth it?

Is it worth getting a 6.0L swap if you're not getting any kind of power adder? Would I see bigger gains from bolt-ons? And since I'm not getting any power adders, could I swap my 5.3L for an HO 6.0L?

From what i have seen on this board, the 6.0 is a great swap. You should see much more torque and lots of potential for later upgrades with just the motor swap and some tuning.

What about the LQ9? Will it drop in like the LQ4? I'm not running any power adder as stated before.

I believe the only difference is the compression. LQ4 is 9.4:1 and LQ9 is 10.5:1. I want to say that the block itself is identical...someone verify for me?

There is a huge difference going from a 5.3L to 6.0L. Take a look at this G-tech graph, the black line is 6.0L with mods in sig, and the red is 5.3L with all mods in sig expect TB stall. The 5.3L run wasn't the best, but it is done in the same weather as the 6.0L run.

LQ9 is 10.0:1 compression. Block, heads are the same. Pistons/rods are different in the LQ9. And YES its worth it. I rode in a guys truck last year with a plain old 6.0. With just a little tuning, it was a real eye opener!! It was proof enough for me to say the least....

Yeah 6.0 is worth it and yes LQ9 drops right in. Never ridden in an LQ9 truck but our LQ9 AWD ESCALADE will scoot.

I'd do the swap in a second!

I only kept the 5.3L and built it up in my Z71 because it was cheaper for me and I wanted to see what a max effort 5.3L could do with cheap parts.

I did a LS1 swap rather than a LQ9/LQ4 swap but the numbers are almost the same and it was well worth it. I went from a 4.8 to LS1 but I have driven 5.3's and it still would have been well worth it if I would have had a 5.3. The TQ is really really nice. The top end on the LS1 is ridiculous as well. Do it!

That is a great comparison for a 5.3 to 6.0 swap,it shows what can be done for the weight of the 4x4s.I see the did the 5.3 have all the boltons.question, how has the swap effected your mileage?OK two question 2,now that it is done would have done anything different? stall, cam specs ect...One more thing, would you have spent your mod money differently like H&C 5.3?
