Default 6.0l mods.

How's this sound? I have a 2002 2500hd 6.0l extended cab short bed 4x4. It has a magnaflow, shorty headers, 6" lift and 35's. I just put a set of 4.88's in it. Thinking about a set of trickflow 220 as cast heads, btr stage 4 truck cam and circle d 2800 converter. I still need to be as to tow 7000-8500 lbs or I would go bigger on the stall.

Not to tell you how to spend your money but it would be far cheaper to just mill your stock heads to bump compression and still gain power. Doing that along with the camshaft should be a great bump in power and save you like $1,000.

Stock 317 cylinder heads flow stupid good for what they are.

M60gov20,

With the correct cam and your 317s ported, your 6.0 won't have any issue getting out of it's own way. You'll also be able to pull with ease.

Can I sell you a set of TFS cat port heads for your truck? Absolutely. But for the price and your application it isn't necessary. FFDP is spot on.

If you have any questions at all, fire away.

I would keep the cam a bit smaller then the BTR stage 4 if you do towing. A milder cam and a good set of cleaned up 317's will go along way. Better flowing heads will make the cam perform much better even if its not as large.

Agreed. I would add that I suggest swapping your shorties for some LTs and get some e-fans. With the rest you're set!

M60gov20,

My apologies on the phone call yesterday, I don't know what the deal with my computer was haha.

The BTR Stage 1/2 with a ported set of 317s would work great!

Thanks for all the advise. I definitely plan on switching to long tubes at some point. I only tow a dozen times or so on the weekends. Boat to the lake and back. I'd like to see 400 or better at the tires. I don't think a stage 2 btr will get me there will it? Even with ported heads.

IMO you wont be able to make 400 whp with a heads/cam 6.0 through an 80e and still be able to tow as well as you do in stock form (you could probably get really close though). If you don't allow yourself to get hung up on numbers I think you will be more than happy with the above mods and it will feel like a totally different truck. Just don't ever take it to the dyno and tell yourself its 400 whp if you want....

If you are hung up on numbers then.....your best bet is to go with a TVS or Whipple on low boost which will easily get you to your power goals and still allow you to tow even better than stock....much more expensive route, however.

I don't really want to go with forced induction right now. So you think with the addition of a btr 4truck cam, the trickflow and a 2800-3000 converter it will not pull as well as it does now?
