Default 6.0 swap question

Hey guys,
Trying to finish up my 6.0 swap (had the 5.3 with the wonderful castech heads.. cracked on both sides)

I've got the engine running relatively well (P0300) with the 5.3 tune.
I want to get everything correct before I get it tuned and on the road.

I've got a nasty rapping at the trans when in park or neutral. When I go to reverse, or drive, the rapping goes away.
I popped the silver dollar cutout at the bottom of the bell. The flywheel doesn't have much play and none at where it's bolted to the torque converter.
I'm going to remove the starter and re-torque flywheel to tc bolts.
Is it possible the flywheel bolts aren't torqued tight enough?
Am I missing something else? This is really confusing to me since it doesn't happen when in gear.

thanks in advance
Jim

Did you take the 4L80 crank spacer off the back of the crank before installing into a 4L60E truck.

Like said above crank spacer needs removed from the crank to use a 60e. You can see the spacer in this picture. These spacers only come on LQ4's since they were matted to a 80e. There is a 1/8 inch needed between flywheel and converter.

On a sadder note if you did forget to remove the spacer chances are very good you destroyed the trans oil pump and torque converter.

Is that from all year LQ4s? I didn't read that except on 99-01 or 02 models

Mines from an 05 and I dont' think it looked like that.
My truck is an 03 and I swapped the 5.3 flywheel over.
The flywheel from the 6.0 had a spacer on it but wasn't slightly curved like the 5.3.. not sure if the 1/8" difference is made up there.

Guess it's time to pull the trans off

Good thing my trans is pretty much shot anyway... was going to drive it for 5-10k miles then get it rebuilt.... might just be a little earlier

Does anyone have a good step by step for how to remove the trans?

Also, assuming I do have that spacer still on the crank, how do you remove it?

Pull the bolts out and take a screwdriver and hammer and tap screw driver in at the parting line. You need shorter bolts also.

All 01 up 6.0's with 4L80 trans use that spacer.

Are you positive that's the case? I've never heard of that spacer in all the 6L swaps using a newer LQ4. I knew older 99-01 LQ4 had longer snouts, but an 05 LQ4 will not mate directly to the 4L60e?
