On changing the torque converter? I'd absolutely do it while it's all apart...get something that's matched to your cam/head combo and strong enough to hold up to your power level and intended use.

With the stock cam, and even a mild cam (anything up to say 216/224ish), the TT2600 will work fine. My only concern would be the TT series holding up behind a 6.0...guys have done it with no problems (the SS guys run them), but I like to bulletproof things a little more. I'd suggest talking to the guys at Yank and CircleD and finding out which line of converters they'd recommend behind a 6.0....also consider your future plans for the motor. If you plan on getting more HP out of the mill eventually, don't skimp on the converter and end up having to replace it twice.

You could go with a 3k stall also, it will just bring the engine up higher faster...not necessary with the stock setup, but you will still see gains in accelleration and lower 60' times.

Just an example, I'm building an LQ9 6.0 that will have WCCH StageII 317's, a Vinci 216/224 .551/.551 115, and I will be using a 2600 stall converter for that combo, as it seems to fit the bill perfectly IMO.

The tt2600 is foolish. I've never seen one person who has that stall say they wish they went with the tt3000.

I wouldn't say it's foolish, especially on a stock engine that's driven on the street. Alot of guys are happy with their 2600's...Roger Vinci runs one in his 5.3 with the same cam that I'm going to use in my 6.0 and he says it's perfect for his combo. I could actually go smaller with my verter and future set up, but don't see the point in that. If you want to flash to where your torque curve starts to really come on, then it may work for you.
