Where my motor was built (W, FL area), the standard way to treat motors that are new is to run with just a 30 weight oil for break in - no detergents. Then at 100 miles change to a 10W-30 oil and change again at 500 miles. Once you have the 10W30 oil in you can get on it WOT, just not from a dead stop. Once you have changed the oil at the 500 mile mark, then you can do whatever you want. Do not change to synthetics until 3000 mile mark.

Just about every builder I spoke with over the phone had the same plan.
no I used the VHT paint and cleared it.

Noticed you went with the LS6 cover. I did the same. Did you plumb in a PCV valve? If so, which way did you do it? I used the LS1howto site, but have heard of doing it differently.
