Any chance that I need to check PTV clearance on this setup? Dished LQ4 pistons, 243 heads milled .035", OEM head gaskets, and .581 lift cam.

That's with the 220/224 cam correct? You shouldn't have any problems, guys have run bigger bumpsticks and milled heads on LQ9's without checking all day long

Especially with no advance you should be fine. I always check though, but that's me.

How do you like that book you posted a pic of? Ive got a few online links saved for clearances and such but its alwas nice to have some handy reading material on the shelf. Another great but older LSx book is Will Hanzel's Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s and also Engine Blueprinting by Rick Voegelin. The later is more general but has some good building tips. I like anything that has to do with building motors so it doesnt take much to entertain me

I'll let you know how I like it too, as I just ordered it last night after seeing the pic in this thread I'm getting more and more curious as to how your combo's going to run since I'm a long way off from my LQ9 project, and have been going back and forth between cam specs of 224/2xx and 220/224 forever...the past day or two I have been back on the 220/224 kick...(if I had the dough I'd really like a Vinci Stangbanger 220/224 with the Crane 1.8 Gold Race Rockers and Crane dual springs )

I'm really beginning to wonder if that motor will be in the truck in the next 10 years

Oh my goodness, are those head bolts tight! 22 ft/lbs + a total of 160°? Wow! Scary I tell you. How those threads don't pull is beyond me. But it's done.

I did coat the GM head gaskets with copper spray just for insurance. I want to do everything I can to ensure a successful build.

I checked the pushrod lengths on all four corner cylinders. They're all 9 - 9 1/4 turns on the adjuster. I don't have a 8" caliper. I'm using a Comp Cams tester. I believe that comes out to 7.25"-7.265".

7.265 + .05 = 7.315

7.250 + .075 = 7.325

Looks like I'll need a set of 7.325 pushrods. I need to get a 8" caliper to measure the adjustable rod though.

Where's the best place to get a set of PRs in a hurry? I looked on Summit and didtn't see what I need. I suspect I'm not searching correctly.

It's a pretty decent little book. It doesn't go all crazy over high performance aftermarket parts, even though it does cover things such a setting up rocker arms and such. It just gives a lot of good tips for engine assembly of LS Type motors. I would say it's definitely a good addition to any motor heads library.
