I think I'm going to continue the old school look, and top the orange block with chrome valve covers

All LQ4's came with a 24X reluctor wheel, while the 5.3L is vague and has been built in Gen III and Gen IV configurations, to which all Gen III's have a 24X wheel and the Gen IV's will have a 58X wheel. The only exceptions to the Gen IV rule are some of the early LS2's depending on which vehicle they were in. In this case to verify which one you have, it's easiest to verify by the color of the crankshaft position sensor, black is for a 24X and gray is for a 58X reluctor wheel. The basic breakdown is Gen III 1997 thru 2005 and Gen IV 2006 +, however the trucks continued to use the Gen III platform through the 2007 Classic models.

My truck is a '01, so should have a 24x then. Should be good to go.

For those that are interested, the GM PN for the cylinder head locating dowel pins is 12570326. I ordered them from the dealer and will have them tomorrow. Any other little parts I may have missed that would hold me up?

With all of these knowledgeable folks saying that the injectors will be OK, it sounds like you'll be good to go. I'm definitely interested to see what your IDC will be, as my build (if my money situation ever allows it to happen), will be similar to yours, only with a bigger cam (I'm thinking 224/230ish, or maybe just a TR224 112), and WCCH StageII 317's...so I guess that I'm going a little bigger, although my cam specs were pretty much identical to yours when I got my info that we refered to earlier. I'm kinda wishing that I hung on to my injectors now, although I did need the cash for my trans at the time...

Keep up the good work, I'm definitely down with the old school Chevy theme, as that's what I grew up on. My 71 Camaro had a Chevy Orange 350 SBC in it with Moroso chrome valve covers...but I swapped the chromies for some aluminum Edelbrocks that I was into at the time

I'm looking at this TBSS intake, and online pictures of the Edelbrock 3869 t-body I bought. It appears to me that the bolt pattern doesn't line up. What's up with that? That's the combo that brent5631 used, HERE.

I've got some intake swap questions.

This first pic is of my current 5.3 setup. Do these two items circled here....

...go here? This is a pic borrowed from brent5631. What is the sensor with the electrical connection?

Here's my TBSS intake bare.

Also, what is this connection to here at the back of my intake?

The first picture is your original evap solenoid and the wires to it.

The second picture the wires are to the MAP sensor. And on the new intakes the Evap solenoid is attached (just mounted) to the fuel rail and the tube in the second picture goes into the back of the solenoid and the tube in the first picture would connect to the other side.

The fourth picture is the Map sensor I believe.

Also on the Evap if you reach far back behind the intake the evap tube connects to a metal piece of tubing. You can remove the tube and then use 3/8 fuel line to connect to the new evap solenoid. Because the new solenoid is in a slightly different place you would have to cut the original so fuel line works good. Thats what I did.
