Default 5 spd of auto

My boss at the garage i work at has really good connection to a junk yard. there is a 5 spd sivlerado there...like a 2000. i was wonder if i could swap this into my truck. And i know how much work is involed. so would a 5 spd be quicker?........

i'd get all of the conversion parts (pedal, master, etc..) except the tranny itself, then go buy a nice T56 and hook it all together.

I agree. Try to find a 5-speed truck to go drive. See if you like it before you invest in it. It's not aperformance trans, it's a truck trans - first gear is a granny. Also, the 5-speed has torque limitations. That is the reason you don't find them installed behind motors bigger than the 4.8. A T-56 swap would be a lot more fun to drive. Those also have 2 overdrive gear ratios, cruising at high speeds will be more economical.

Yeah man deffinately go with the t56 our 5spds suck!!! They can't handle any power mods. I am lucky to have limped 49K out of mine.

Yes, do not get the New Venture gear 3500 (5spd in out trucks). They have a 285HP power limit.
