5.3L Stroker
#1
Where can I find a stroker kit for my 2005 silverado with a 5.3L engine. Are there any full kits that include crank, pistons ,rods and gaskets? I'm gunning for 500+ rwh. Thanks.
Also has anyone done something crazy like stroker and magnacharger supercharger? I don't think the block could handle it...can it? What power could you make at the rear wheels?
And if money wasn't a problem.
I know.

Stroker kits are pretty expensive and if I was going to all the trouble of taking the engine out and the expense of stroking it I'd buy a 6.0 block and get 402 or 408 ci out of it.
For now I'm settling for the 5.3 w/magnacharger, heads, cam, meth kit and maybe the new 90mm tb they are talking about.

get the 383 stroke kit and bore it out to 3.905 and you'll have a 383 that can handle alot of boost. i've found them in the $2000 range from eagle and scat. check out texas speed and performance they had some good prices for these and so did sdpc.

On my 5.3 at 9psi, everything else being stock I made 413/447. If your shooting for 500rwhp I think the stock crank would be fine and it already had a 4" stroke (right?). Bore that think out and do a 383, get your forged rods/pistons and some stock 6L heads with springs, a nice cam and spin the **** out of that Radix and I think 500 will be an easy goal. If you go with a 6L and bore it out to a 40X you will run into a problem with the radix running out of steam even on the smallest 2.75" pulley. I am at this crossroad now. Trying to decide if a forged 408 with a Procharger is in my future......because I dont think the radix will feed it very well.

Stock stroke on all the GenIII motors, except the 4.8L, is 3.622". I did what 4.8T suggested and bored out a 5.3 block ( or 4.8, they are identical ) and dropped in a 4" Eagle kit. You could try to get a custom rod made and stay with the 5.3L pistons but the machining costs of the bore is cheaper in the long run. Then you open up to ANY 5.7L kit made.
The price of the 402 short blocks is very affordable. You will save a few bucks going the 383 route but not a ton. I enjoyed the time away from the TV and had something a little different but would consider a prefab shortie these days....

Agreed. I find that I enjoy working on my stuff more than paying someone else to do it.
But if you have the money, by all means pay a quality shop to make a 383 out of your 5.3L. Preferably make it a shop that has GENIII experience. A forged crank, rods and pistons should take a bunch of abuse.
