Default 5.3 supercharger experts, question?

I have read a few bad stories about the Procharger blowing the #7 piston/cylinder.
What can I do to avoid doing this after I get my Procharger on?
I have already put my spark tables back to stock.

Should I set my shift points lower than 5400 to avoid putting too much boost to it?

What is causing them to blow the #7 piston?

Is it starving for fuel?

Or is #7 getting more air than the others?

Why are the roots type blowers not doing this same thing?

Thanks for nay help. I just want to avoid blowing it up right away, or at all if possible. My motor is stock, with a free flowing exhaust.
I don't necessarily need to get full boost out of it, if I can get some life out of the motor. Sam

Well from my experiance, my failure was my fault. I did not put the inline fuel pump on the truck at the time I put the procharger on. I did not have the time. I had to go to work. I think if you take your time on the install and get a good tune, you won't have any problems. Right now I am getting a 6.0 with forged internals so I can run a little more boost. I was extremely pleased with the performance and it was easy to install. I hope this helps. You will love it, trust me. It pulls like a mad dog all the way to the rev limiter. OH and I had a lot of valve float at the high rpms. When I opened up my engine almost all my pushrods were bent and half my valves. I was impatient and it cost me. Good luck.

With the tuning you can do with LS1-Edit you should be fine. Just make sure that you're tuned enough that even if something were to happen you'll be OK.

Also if you are really worried about it you can always add alcohol injection just to be safe. All my buddies that have ever ran boost have alway either ran alittle race gas (High Octane) in the tank and/or a alittle alcohol injection just to be safe. Better safe than brooming up the #7 after it shoots out the exhaust.

However, boost is addictive! Like all us horespower junkies, once the boost comes on you'll want more.

Thanks guys. I have spun it to around 6100 or so, but I have NO plans on spinning like that with boost. Like I said, I have the shifts at 5600 and stock mph in 1st, then the others are 5400 and stock MPH(whatever it is, (I just matched the stock tables).
I did this to be conservative, but I would like to alleviate any probs.

Keep them coming! Sam

if you go with the stock pully you probably wont have any problems, when you decide you need more is when that number 7 lets go. i spent the $$$ on a wideband 02 set up and a fuel presure gauge, along with ls1edit it makes tuning VERY easy. i justified the high price of the wideband by telling myself that i can use it on future projects.
