Default 5.3 rebuild questions

Well i think its getting close to that time with 280,000 miles on the clock and a hard life the bottom end is finally letting lose. So im here to ask yall what i should do to this truck for power. Its a 99 chevy 4x4 i want power and im not looking to get it the cheap way. I was always told cheap, Fast, Reliable pick two. Well i want it fast and reliable. So what do i need to do to the bottom end and top end to make this happen

Ive also have read about the 4l60e transmission not being able to hold up to the power of a built motor. With 35's And 22's and a 3.42 gear i am sure that will be my first week link so my question is if i buy a 4l80e is it the same length and also will my transfer case adapt to the back of the 4l80.

Id like to be somewhere in the 450 - 500 hp mark N/A if i want more i will turbo charge it

for that power your wanting a 6.0 and 80e would be nice. the right heads and cam should definitely get you in the 450 range

340 is a common hp number people put down with cam only 5.3's. Typically around a 220 duration cam, long tubes headers, and a good tune.

Ported heads, bigger cam, and other things have brought people up to 370+ hp.
