Default 5.3 to ls1 swap?

My only question about the swap, is it worth swapping a 5.3 for a ls1? With the advancements made on the new 5.3 I know there both pushing almost the same horse power, but Im thinking the ls1 with the 5.3 heads and intake should give it some good gains? You know what they say no replacment for displacement.

Reas I ask is I can get an ls1 complete except coils and throttle body for 800 bucks, only about 50,000 miles on it, out of a trans am ws6

Having done it twice on two trucks...I'd say yes, although not with 5.3 heads unless you meant the newer 243/799 heads.

My stock 5.3 came out for my baby-cam ls1 with 243 heads and I'd say that I can't see keeping an older 5.3 over an ls1 unless you're considering a lot of boost with the 5.3. I love my ls1. I'm going to spray my way into the 11's this winter.

mine definitly isnt an older 5.3, its a 2011, with the 243 heads. Still not sure if the swap is worth it. But ill probably just wait and get a ls7

I'd do it for the weight savings alone, the added hp/tq is a plus

Do it.

Unless it is a MUST, i would just do a cam, heads ect to the 5.3 But if it is a 02 transam it has the ls6 cam and intake

pretty sure the nnbs intake out flows the ls6 intake, cam would be slightly more agressive, I think the only added benefits of the ls1 is the increased displacement, (more displacement, more potential) and the weight of the aluminum block

Cant really think of anybody putting a gen 3 motor in a gen 4's place..
The reluctor wheel would have to be changed,i dont think the lingenfelter box works backwards.

I swapped to a 99' ls1 short block and havent looked back
